| The Inn...
Situated in the beautifully picturesque village
of Shincliffe and dating back to 1724, the Inn offers excellent
facilities and service in tranquil surroundings. Though
there is limited history available we do know that the building
has been an Inn since at least 1890 at which point it occupied
just one cottage in a traditional row of terraced cottages. Over
the years part of the terrace was demolished and the Inn has
grown to now occupy all four remaining cottages in the terrace.
Downstairs, the Inn is divided into the restaurant,
the lounge, and the bar, while upstairs there are eight individually
decorated guest bedrooms.
Our restaurant is quickly gaining
a reputation as one of the best places to eat in Durham with
an emphasis on fresh locally sourced produce and modern British
cuisine.
The cosy side bar with its open
fire has retained much of its original atmosphere. Here
you can sit back, relax, and enjoy one of our fine real ales. As
well as a guest ale our current selection includes:
Well behaved dogs and walkers
with cleaned boots are always welcome in the bar!
